Review from the OC Register - Pop Life by Ben Wener,1/1/1999:
Rated #1!
"Sonichrome, "Breathe the Daylight" (Capitol):
Why "Honey Please," the first single from this sparkling debut, never caught on on radio I will never understand. (Right, it sounds a bit like the Replacements, but then the Goo Goo Dolls' "Name" sounded more like the 'Mats and it went Top 40.) So it's no surprise that audiences never got a chance to connect with one of the best power-pop efforts of the last five years. There's a tendency to overpraise Chris Karn and company's splendid ditties, simply because so little else like this is coming out of anywhere, much less Mission Viejo. But compare it to the best melodicists of the Gen X set and it more than holds its own. An unappreciated gem."
LA Times by MIKE BOEHM, Times Staff Writer, 12/30/98, Orange Curtain Keeps On Rising.
Rated #3
"Sonichrome, "Breathe the Daylight" (Capitol). As catchy as pure-pop needs to be, with the added attraction of Chris Karn's twisted guitar outbreaks and impassioned vocals."
