ORANGE KANDY
2000 U.S. TOUR
March 22, 2000 - The Dragonfly, LosAngeles, CA
Orange Kandy kicked off their 2000 U. S. Tour with a show at the
"Pretty Ugly Club" at The Dragonfly in Los Angeles, CA. "Pretty Ugly
Club" is held every Wednesday night at the Dragonfly, where the boys are
ugly and the girls are pretty. Think leather, chains, and very tight
skirts. Tour sponsors Motorcycle Boy went on at 11, and Orange Kandy followed
at 12:30am, headlining the show. Orange Kandy rocked the house that
night. The Dragonfly was a great gig for Orange Kandy, with a large
stage and a wild light show. Orange Kandy responded by prompty tearing
the roof off of the place.
March 23, 2000 - Goldfingers, Hollywood, CA
Orange Kandy were suppossed to be on at 10, but word got around
about the killer show the night before at the Dragonfly, so they ended
up headlining "The Cadillac Club" at Goldfingers as well, hitting the stage
about 1am. Goldfingers is a small club with a large sound system,
so when Orange Kandy played it got loud. Real loud. They rocked heavy
duty with with a good helping of tunes from "Lick This" sprinked with some
brand new material. The star studded audience that night included
members of The Cherries, Cockeyed Ghost, The Horses, The Hollywoodz, Mannix
5-0, Motorcycle Boy, Silver Jet, The Sisters Grimm, The Smelly Roses,
& Snack Cake. Most of the audience stuck around to see Orange
Kandy shred, despite the schedule change.
March 28, 2000 - The Opium Den, Hollywood, CA
Fortunately The Opium Den was willing to add Orange Kandy to the
Tuesday Dr. Wu's lineup at the last minute after the scheduled show the
night before at Scream got cancelled. Orange Kandy was no stranger
to The Opium Den, as they played there during their 1999
tour. There were some technical problems getting the Opium Den loaner
guitar amp to work. During the wait, Dean penciled in "Green" on
the setlist, and the band obliged during the show. Once the show got started,
Orange Kandy was on fire. They played one of the most kick-ass sets
I've seen in a long time. Maybe it was the earlier start time (10:30),
or maybe because it was the last show on the short tour, but it was very
high energy, and it rocked!! Most of the songs were from "Lick This"
with a couple of new songs like "Daisy". They closed the set with
a high speed "Cherry Cherry Cherry".
March 30, 2000 - Honolulu, HI
